About Web Browsers
A "web browser" is the application you use to access websites. The three most popular web browsers are Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari. The ELOA PracticeBuilder website requires the latest versions of these browsers and requires that JavaScript be enabled. (All major browsers enable JavaScript by default.) If you are using an incompatible web browser or web browser version, parts or all of the website may not work.
If you are running Internet Explorer version 6 or earlier (go to Help » About Internet Explorer to check your version), please update to version 7 or higher through Windows Update, Microsoft Update, or from the Internet Explorer download page. To enable JavaScript in Internet Explorer, go to Tools » Internet Options, click the Security tab, click the Custom Level button, find the Scripting section, ensure that Active Scripting is set to Enable, and click OK until Internet Options is closed.
If you are running Firefox version 1.5 or earlier (if running Windows, go to Help » About Mozilla Firefox to check your version; if running Mac OS X, go to Firefox » About Mozilla Firefox), please update to version 2 or higher from the Firefox download page. To enable JavaScript in Firefox, go to Tools » Options (or Firefox » Preferences in Mac OS X), click Content, ensure Enable JavaScript is checked, and click OK (or close the window in Mac OS X).
If you are running Safari, we recommend the version that ships with Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or higher. Besides incremental updates through Apple » Software Update, the only way to receive new Safari versions is to upgrade your operating system from Apple. To enable JavaScript in Safari, go to Safari » Preferences » Security, ensure Enable JavaScript is checked, and close the window.

Quick explanation of cache-emptying
By default, all modern web browsers "cache" (store on your computer) pieces of websites as you surf. Caching speeds up some websites, as your browser doesn't have to re-download the entire site every time you visit; instead, it asks the web server for a list of all new files and only downloads those. Sometimes, however, the server lies to the browser, and thus you see a cached (and now outdated) site instead.
This can be particularly messy when the website uses many small, interdependent files. If a few files are updated by the developers, but not downloaded by the web browser, the entire site can begin to act strange. For this reason, we may periodically request that users empty their cache to ensure they are using the latest pieces of the website.
Emptying your cache is entirely harmless and has no negative side effects, though you may notice a temporary slowdown the first time you re-visit some of your favorite websites.
